June 10th brought to an end the latest North East League season being held at Rockcliff Rugby Club. 6 teams completed across 6 weeks culminating in a round robin final night with two trophies on offer.

This season saw a flourish of young talent as a large number of age grade players took to the field. It was fantastic to see this development in the game which they looked to thoroughly enjoy and hope to see them back on the touch field soon once more!
On finals night all the R’s battled it out for the Plate with Ravens, Rattlers and Roses facing each other across the night. Rockcliff rattlers put their thursday night social touch on display picking up the first silverware of the evening a great reward for the hard efforts their team [made up of a number of age grade coaches themselves] put in!
On Pitch 2 Ashington Lions, Percy Park Pirates and Rockadders showed equal effort in a fast paced display. Rockadders winning both their games with very close scorelines to secure the home trophy. Special shoutout to Rockcliff Roses who during one game in the season managed to field a full team of U14s ladies! We look forward now to the Charity Rugby tournament on 26th june and enjoying more touch [and hopefully the sun!]
