Blackadders at Magic Weekend

On Sunday 4th June, 5 of our Blackadders members made the short trip to St James Park to take part in North East Raiders 2 showcase matches during half time of the final game of Rugby League’s Magic Weekend alongside various other keen players from various clubs.

Some of the team took in some of the other Rugby League action prior to making their St James Park debuts. Dermot, Matty, Mel, Rob and Vicky met with the other players before a quick change before heading pitchside to watch the first half of Hull FC Vs. Warrington Wolves. With 5 minutes left of the half the change into boots began before some quick photos of this historic moment.

The half time whistle went with the players running out onto the hallowed turf, unfortunately not to local hero. Matty, Vicky and Mel all played on the same team on the pitch closest to the Leazes stand with Dermot and Rob playing on the other pitch next to the famous Gallowgate stand. Both games were played with great spirit and it was a great advertisement for our great sport.

An unforgettable experience for all that played with all the Blackadders being on the winning sides. A special mention for Matty who lived a childhood dream of scoring on the pitch. The Blackadders players can be proud of themselves and enjoy being able to tell people that they are undefeated at St James Park
