We can’t think of a better way to start the summer than a touch rugby tournament!
Saturday, 17th July 2021, Blackadder’s hosted the O2 Summer Celebration at Rockcliff RFC. Six local teams signed up and everyone got behind the spirit of the day and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, even in the extreme heatwave! After a round robin competition Rockcliff Rangers made it into the 3rd/4th play off against Percy Park Pirates with lots of tries being scored. Well done to Pirates who won 12 – 7.
Blackadder’s entered a joint team with our friends from Alnwick. Alnwick Adders played really well considering the team had not trained together, clocking up 21 tries in the round robin stage and only conceding 6 tries. Alnwick Adders made it into the final against Ashbrooke Sunderland. Adders played really well with one sub and three females on the pitch, however, the all male side of Ashbrooke broke away in the second half to steel the victory.
This is the first tournament Blackadder’s have hosted and we can’t wait to arrange another one! Roll on 2022… Thank you to each and everyone of the Blackadder’s who helped out to make the day work so well.
